||This patient presented with a history of severe pain behind the right eye.
The only possible cause identified was a "mass" located on the posterior wall of the right sphenoid sinus.
This patient demonstrates the usefulness of image guidance in sinus surgery.
These are screenshots taken from the Brainlab Kolibri Image Guidance system at the time of surgery.
In this series the straight probe is being used to confirm position on the anterior wall of the right sphenoid sinus.
In the axial view, the tip of the probe is seen to be located in the anterior wall of the sphenoid sinus just lateral to the nasal septum. In the sagittal view the tip of the probe is seen to be located on the middle of the face in an area which is safe to enter. The surgeons view is seen in the endoscopic video screenshot.
